Peter van der Maas, Hogeschool Van Hall Larenstein \u2013 Hogeschool VHL<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Het huidige stedelijke waterbeheer in Nederland is gebaseerd op grootschalige, centrale systemen voor drinkwatervoorziening, hemelwaterafvoer en afvalwaterzuivering. Vergeleken met de huidige centrale systemen kan het lokaal opvangen en zuiveren van afvalwater grote voordelen hebben, vooral met betrekking tot het terugwinnen van energie, water en andere hulpbronnen en het lokaal beschikbaar maken van deze hulpbronnen. Decentrale watersystemen op wijkniveau bieden daarom kansen in het kader van zowel klimaatadaptatie als de transitie naar circulaire economie\u00ebn.
