This unique facility in Sneek provides a valuable testing ground for developing and improving sustainable treatment technoligies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wastewater from various hospital departments is directed to the demonstration site. Companies can further develop and perfect their technologies here. The demo site is equipped with all necessary facilities.                    <h2 style=\"\" class=\"title h3\">\n                What was included in the pilot?\n\n                <\/h2>\n        \n        \n            \n    <\/section>\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the demo site, three water streams are collected and treated separately. The first stream consists of the hospital's total wastewater flow. For existing hospitals, it is often difficult to separate wastewater streams per department, making treatment of the entire wastewater stream an obvious solution. In addition, specific toilet water is collected from departments with high use of antibiotics and cytostatics. By collecting this wastewater directly at source, pharmaceutical residues can be removed more effectively; a relevant approach for hospitals with new construction or renovation plans. Finally, wastewater from diverting toilets on selected wards is also collected separately. Here, urine and faeces are collected separately, so that targeted processing of, for example, nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphate can also be investigated.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div
