For our Desah team we are looking for an intern (3-6 months).

Why apply here?
“At Desah we cooperate with research institutes like Wageningen University and Wetsus and look for new processes to convert wastewater into resources. Working here will provide you a versatile and challenging job with lots of freedom in an organization that is in full swing.”
Paraschos Chatzopoulos, former R&D Engineer at Desah 2017-2022

What will you do?
As a Desah intern, you’ll explore and apply eco-friendly water technologies for a brighter future. Your role involves using insights from diverse research fields and applying various technologies.
As we intend to achieve circular economy in our processes, we are currently looking into dewatering sludge from our greywater system by using sludge bags. This project will be carried out in our decentralized water treatment pilot plant and office in Sneek, the Netherlands.

Your key tasks will be as follows:

  • Design & execute your solutions
    • Perform literature research on sludge dewatering
    • Define research parameters and plan experiments
    • Execute the experiments in our treatment plant
  • Share results
    • Final report
    • Final presentation

Who is Desah?
Desah specializes in the development and implementation of innovative and sustainable wastewater treatment technologies. Using source-separation and decentralization as the bases of our systems, we maximize recovery and reuse potential of all the resources found in wastewater. Our approach won the Global wastewater award 2022 of Global Water Intelligence with our project Recolab in Sweden.

Our projects are located around the world, but our office and laboratory can be found in Sneek. This is where the Desah colleagues Ignatius, Sybrand and Andres work together on several running and prospective projects. At lunch we join the colleagues of our sister companies, Landustrie and Hubert.

What is your profile?
We’re seeking a bachelor/master engineering student who is entrepreneurial, independent, communicative, and hands-on. You should be comfortable collecting data, proposing and implementing solutions, and identifying opportunities. Taking ownership of projects is a key characteristic we value.
An ideal match would have the following characteristics:

  • BSc/MSc student of an engineering program with affinity for resource recovery and the water treatment field.
  • Good communication skills in English, ideally also in Dutch.
  • Thorough knowledge of biological wastewater treatment.
