Desah source-separated wastewater treatment
Circular, compact wastewater treatment
Desah's source-separated wastewater treatment is a compact and circular wastewater treatment system that uses separate collection and treatment of grey and black water. Besides treating wastewater locally, this concept focuses on reducing drinking water consumption and recovering and reusing water, energy and nutrients.
Features
The system separates grey water (from shower, washing machine, dishwasher) and black water (from toilets and possibly green waste) at source and treats both streams separately. The two streams are disposed of separately to a compact decentralised water treatment plant.
Greywater is collected via free-flow and treated energy-efficiently. The treated water can be discharged locally or reused for e.g. toilet flushing or irrigation water
Black water is collected via vacuum toilets and vacuum sewers and then processed, allowing energy and nutrients to be recovered and reused.

Advantages
- 30% drinking water saving
- Reduction of load on sewerage system and regional treatment
- Reuse of water for toilet flushing and green spaces
- Production of biogas
- Heat recovery for district use
- Recovery and production of fertilisers (struvite and sludge) for agriculture
- Countering flooding through vacuum sewers
- Effective removal of micropollutants (drug residues, endocrine disruptors and antibiotic-resistant bacteria)
- Low-odour and low-noise system
- Full maintenance and service by us
